Welcome to New NY Crossroads.
Four people, united in their commitment to inspire, cause and bring about positive, forward-moving change in the world, are responsible for this project. We are, Vedat Akman, Richard Holley, Michael Mut and Louis Yungling. You can read more about us individually on the About Us page. But now, we would like to share a bit about our mission and purpose.
Each person is on a journey called "life" and that life, like a road, will cross the path of many other lives throughout its time on earth. This web site is a celebration of life and the mystery and miracle of "crossing roads". Therefore, we dedicate this work to all people.
At New NY Crossroads our mission is to inspire and encourage world peace initiatives through the sharing of personal stories, positive and forward-moving local and international community events and an engaging and inspiring collection of books, CDs and other arts related events and offerings.
We will focus on the stories of immigrants from all over the world. We encourage all immigrants to share their stories here. It is our hope that by using our web site you will not only have a place to tell your story, but also be able to acknowledge the connections you have made along the way and, perhaps, discover a new appreciation for your own existence.
We invite you to enjoy these stories and open yourself to the possibility of finding new meaning in your life, maybe even a new paradigm for living and, most of all, many positive new connections.
So, why are we called New New York Crossroads? First, we conceived of and developed this concept in the magnificent city of New York. We were touched and moved by the inspiration that New York gives to all people (especially to immigrants) and we wanted to acknowledge the city and its people.
As you know, New York City was founded by, built by and continues to be improved by immigrants. The diversity is awe-inspiring. More than 250 languages are spoken in New York City. Here there is a little bit of the whole world in one place. As well, the hard work, perseverance and tolerance that has evolved here over the centuries makes New Yorkers proud to say: "New York welcomes the world". Thanks to the brave and willing immigrants who have settled here, and also to those who will still come, this city is an example of all people working together to make life better for everyone.
That's why we decided to use New York in our name. It is our tribute to a great city and an even greater people.
Thank you for coming here and viewing our project. Thank you for sharing our love for and commitment to peace and progress.

Richard, Vedat, Michael and Louis
